On 16th–18th June 2012, 88 YES students from around the country will come together for a weekend of competition and challenge in the Enterprise in Action event. This unique event gives young people the opportunity to extend their knowledge and experience of enterprise and problem solving. Students work in teams to create ideas, prototypes, business plans and presentations that focus on global trade and innovation.

Students will compete in two international business competitions over the weekend. The Global Enterprise Challenge tests problem solving skills on a global scale. Thirteen countries will compete to answer a global challenge in only 24 hours. The FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge requires students to come up with a market entry strategy for a product to a given country. During the weekend, students will be competing in the New Zealand heat of this challenge. Six students will be selected to represent New Zealand at the world final in Hong Kong in August.

New Zealand students have previously won titles in both competitions. Kiwi students were placed first and second place in the International Trade Challenge in 2009, and first and second place in the GEC in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
