Programme Overview
The Primary Financial Education (FED) suite of resources are targeted to Primary and Intermediate schools and are aimed to support teachers in developing financial capability in their students. The suite includes board games and  story books for Year levels 2-8, and Financial Education units of work at Levels 2 and 3 of the New Zealand curriculum.

The resources can be easily integrated into the classroom social sciences, literacy and numeracy programmes. The FED units are aligned closely to the social sciences learning area and take a social inquiry approach to teaching and learning. Resources are supported by comprehensive Teachers’ Manuals, lesson plans and assessment tasks. The majority of the resources are available FREE to schools that register for Primary Financial Education.

  • The nature of income
  • The contribution of income to personal and community wellbeing
  • The influence/impact financial decisions have on income of ourselves and others
  • The nature of everyday financial activities and transaction tools and methods

Setting Goals and Planning Ahead

  • Short, medium and long term financial goal setting
  • Identifying and managing risk
